Death Becomes You-
Ft. Lauderdale 5/23/03 When I first saw Death Becomes You ( DBY ) 10 months ago, I was very impressed with the fact that they were well versed in all aspects of 70's punk. Oddly they are one of the few bands that knew of my old band The Corpse Grinders. If death became us then at least the spirit lives on in DBY. This by far is one of the best bands that blends true horror within the punk lifestyle. By no means is this watered down "pop nerd punk". This is what 70's punk is all about and to me how it should have evolved. Guitarist Gory's tone is true Dead Boys times 10. His natural ability to grind out this shit is amazing. Nicodemous plays an upside down Les Paul bass that is truley flipped strings and all. When I see "Nick" play he naturally reminds me of Richie Stotts of Plasmatics fame. As a drummer myself I am very impressed with the unique style of Christopher Lee. I can best describe his drumming as Keith Moon on steriods. His complex drum patterns somehow still keep things simple and in your face. Angry frontman John writes some of the best lyrics. His singing is so high energy and exciting. I am ruined for life and can no longer listen to the radio. I must point out that these guys really live the lifestyle. Very no...bullshit. I am really excited about having the opportunity to mix, co-produce and master their new CD. Download
