After several moves I finally got the studio up and running in my new building. It still needs a great deal of work, but at least I can get back to the projects at hand. People ask "why the Backstreet name ? ". Basically most of the early Corpse Grinder recordings were done at Backstreet Studios in NYC. This studio was owned and operated by Eddie Solan. Eddie was Kiss's sound man at the time. Eddie was kind enough over the years to give me advice and became a great influence. Read up on Eddie in the book called Kiss Alive Forever. I felt naming the studio after his was a great way of complementing his work and style. First on the agenda was to finish the Make it Bleed CD by Death Becomes You. I put almost 70 hours into mixing and mastering this album. The reason I took such an interest in this project is because I like to record and mix raw punk. Punk rock in its raw state is a true art form to me. I like simple recordings done fast and with no frills. I like the ability of the musicians to understand the concept, record raw, and get the energy tracked so that it comes across in the most aggravating way as possible. In fact, it should be so upsetting, that you are compelled to listen to it over and over again. To much surprise, the CD was tracked on a Yamaha 16 track AW4416 workstation. Basic tracks were recorded at homes and in rehearsal studios. Some vocals, bass, and guitar tracks were recorded at Backstreet. It was mixed tracked using some of my outboard gear and mastered on the Tascam DM24 and DA38's. Again, being true to punk, being that the CD was recorded so simple, the result I hope you will find exciting yet disturbing. Download
